Hand Axes
The hand axe is one of the weapon/tools that dominated the Northern European cultures. There where many forms over the centuries, some more efficient as weapons and others more of a camp and craft tool. They all could be called on in a pinch to do the service needed.

In the years after the Roman Empire had withdrawn, the axe, along with the spear, seems to have been a weapon that nearly everyone would have had to hand.

Here are two examples of the many types that appeared over the development of weapons in these cultures. The heads are hand forged steel and the hafts usually of ash. These strong and agile weapons were a potent threat to any aggressor one might come across.
