This form of sword seems to only be seen in Irish context. Highlighted by a ring pommel that is hollow in the center and a S shaped guard flattened on the ends and toothed. This piece has a mottled green leather grip with three low risers under the leather top, mid and bottom.
Dürer's depiction of Irish fighters shows these swords carried probably by mercenary soldiers on the continent. They had acquired a reputation as intense fighters and were often hired for foreign wars.
