Fechterspiel translates to "assault of arms"—a great name for this western martial arts training weapon. This sword is an excellent choice for you the longsword practitioner looking for a period style, handling and durability. The grip is covered in leather and has a slightly flared waist. The pommel and guard are finished in brushed tool steel. A sturdy tang holds the hilt structure securely. The ricasso is full thick in the center and then steps down on the flanges, this eliminate some weight from the blade and adds a bit of style. The blade is a bit thinner in taper and profile than our #187 Fechtbuch sword which allows for a quicker action and some more flex in the blade. A good choice if one is practicing mainly unarmored combat.
