One of the most elegant of the staff weapons, the Italian Bill or Roncone was very popular throughout Europe in the 16th century. Our hand-fashioned replica retains the faceted head and tapering diamond section top spike of the original: qualities rarely seen in reproductions done today.
The upgrades to this item are a heavier back edge for rigidity in the thrust and the addition of two 14" langets inset to the haft and welded to the head.
You can learn more about this weapon in our blog post here.
With this version of the weapon we are offering to upgrades that can be added for an additional cost. They are a butt cap and a butt spike, see images above. These are sometimes seen on pole arms of this type in period illustrations though few survive in place today.
Note: As a long hafted wooden handled weapon there will be variations in the straightness of the haft. Wood is a natural material that will vary and adjust shape due to climate conditions and use. We strive to mount our poleaxe with solid wood of good quality and as straight of grain as possible. The hafts are as straight as we can craft at the time of assembly. Just like the originals though there will be some variation.
