Very large two handed swords were created in the late middle ages and early Renaissance period. They were enlarged versions of the common swords of the day and soon began to transition into their own unique style and forms. This is an early version of these large swords and a truly "great sword" to have in hand. The weight is very manageable and the length allows for an exceptional reach and powerful blows. The size dictates the need to use both hands well spread on the long grip for proper form. When the piece is in motion it moves well and does not require you to try to muscle the sword but rather to find its rhythm and keep proper body position.
The hilt is steel fittings with a black leather grip. The guard is a gentile S shape in the plane of the guard and ends in cusped finials. The wheel pommel on this sword is inset with a replica templar coin, plated in gold, in each face of the hubs.
There is one available of this sword.
